Have just seen on the news that its now being considered to offer people cash incentives to stop smoking/lose weight. Whats you're views on this? Should they be offering people money to sort themselves out or should that money be used for something better? Do you think it would work?

I think they should only pay out when they lose weight i.e if they lose a lb etc then pay em but if they don't lose any or put on in the week then no pay!
I don't think it will make much difference to smokers though and they could lie.

I don't think they should be paying people to lose weight or stop smoking or whatever, the money could be much better spent. ie: if folks want to be overweight , instead of giving them the cash, how about giving the money to the NHS, since it's their resorces that would be diminished by treating these overweight people.

i'm with you on this one sabbi, the money should be spent on something that would benefit everyone, such as the NHS. I'm overweight and personally dont see why anyone else should have to pay for me to get myself sorted out at all. I put this weight on so its down to me and only me to get it back off again

I'm overweight as well livingdoll and they say it costs the NHS a lot of money to treat overweight patients, Well, to my mind why give it to the people? just cut out the middle man and pay it straight to the the NHS, job done. I'm with you as well livingdoll, why pay us to LOSE weight, we will do that ourselves if we want to. Laughing
